Halloween Party Idea - Happy Hauntings and Wild Card

By now I guess you have noticed that I really, really love the Happy Hauntings cartridge. I only wish that it was around when my kids were, well, KIDS! Heck, I wish the Cricut was around back then. I would have been the really cool room mom – the one that had all the neat decorations and goodie bags for the class parties. Oh well, maybe when I have grandkids. Or borrow someone else’s – just for a little bit and then I can give them back, lol!

So if I could help plan a party, here are a couple of ideas that I’d like to share. I tried the old, spooky tree that’s on page 71. It is a 3-D shape and I used the Fit to Page feature on my Expression to cut it. After I cut the two pieces, I sprayed them with a little Glimmer Mist. Then I just slipped the two shapes together and…

Kind of cool, isn’t it? Then I’d serve the little kiddos some Witches Brew…

I finally used my new Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Edge Punch! Yea, yea, I know. I’m way behind the rest of the world. But it was new to me! I think this punch is so neat to use and can be used for so many other things besides Halloween. I just punched two strips of cardstock with my punch, layered them, and inked the edges with TH Distressed ink. I also cut the “Witches Brew” with Happy Hauntings. Just make sure that you use a strong adhesive if you are using cardstock to wrap around the bottle. Even my trusty ATG adhesive didn’t work. I used the red liner tape from Stampin Up and it is still holding on. By the way. it’s not REALLY witches brew. It’s only grape Crush. I know, I let you guys down.

Now let’s add a little spooky party favor. The coffin is also on Happy Hauntings. I cut it out at 6 1/4”. The base is black and the top has two layers – orange and purple. R.I.P is from… Yep, you got it! HH! But the spider webs were cut from the Wild Card cartridge. Another one of my favorites! I added ink again and “nails” with a silver metallic pen.

But wait… What’s that inside? Oh no [insert a loud, high pitched scream here].

Well, doesn’t every little goblin want their ‘Mummy’? Ok, enough, Angela. Get on with it! :-(

My mummy is really an mini sized Kit Kat wrapped in gauze that I frayed and inked. Then I added the little googly eyes. Is ‘googly’ a real word?

Well there you have it. A little spooky scene, ready for any Halloween party that you might be planning. I hope that you can use some (or all) of these ideas next month. Gosh, next month - that’s TOMORROW! Well, until then, Happy Crafting!

World Card Making Day

Don’t forget that World Card Making Day is this Saturday, October 2nd. Get together with some of your friends and get crafty. Use your Cricuts and get a head start on your Holiday cards. Start making next year’s birthday cards that you send to family and friends. Make a few extra to donate to a local senior center or for our soldiers to send home to their families. It’s just a chance to fellowship with those we care about and celebrate the special connections that a hand-made card creates. I’ll be celebrating with two dear friends this year. We are having a girls only, card-making, and maybe-a-layout-or-two, slumber party! I don’t know how much slumber there’ll be but the party part is going to be so much fun! I’ll be posting photos of our party and of some of the cards that we make. So start planning now and let me know what you are going to do this Saturday to celebrate! I’ll be looking for your posts.

Until later, Happy Crafting,

I also want to let everyone know what my next new cartridge will be – hopefully soon! Provo Craft will be releasing 2 new cartridges next month. One is Birthday Bash – which I’m sure I’ll want also once I see all the neat projects that other people will create with it, LOL – but the one that I am most excited about is Nifty Fifties!

Aren’t these the coolest images? They can be used for so many different kinds of cards and scrapbook layouts. Just change the colors and you change the feel of the image. I am already planning pages, cards, and projects in my head. So stay tuned – I’ll be posting as soon as this cartridge is in my hot, little hands!
While you’re here visiting, please grab my button located in the right-hand column and paste it into your blog.  Thanks for supporting me and my blog! I really appreciate you all and your wonderful comments.
Tomorrow I will have another Halloween project to share. That should be projects! There will be more than one! And there’s Disney on Thursday. Keep watching and, as always, Happy Crafting,

Happy Birthday, Son!

Today is my son’s birthday. I can’t believe he’s 27 years old! It seems just like yesterday that he told me that he wanted to be a super hero when he grew up. And now he is a wonderful young man. No, he is not a super hero. But he is my hero! I could not have asked for a more precious gift from God. Happy Birthday, Son!

Here is the card that I made for him:

Chris BDExcuse the bad photography, lol

I used the Tim Holtz embossing folder in Woodgrain and inked it with his distress ink in Vintage Photo. The frame and ‘Son’ was cut with the  Heritage cartridge. ‘Son’ was actually ‘Sons’ and I just cut off the second ‘S’.

Chris BD closeup

For the piece inside the frame, I took white cardstock and used a brayer to ink it with a little Crushed Curry from SU. I then punched a 1 1/4” circle out of a sticky note and placed it on the top right portion of the paper. Then I used the brayer to ink on several other SU colors like More Mustard, Dusty Durango, and Pumpkin Pie. I also used Bravo Burgundy to ink the edges. After removing the sticky note circle I stamped the tree image from TPC Studio in Soft Suede. I also used a little Glimmer Mist on it. Ever since I discovered this stuff I mist everything! If it don’t move, it gets misted!

Chris BD inside

For the inside, I cut a part off of a piece of patterned paper from a stack by My Mind’s Eye called Life Stories that I got on sale at Michael’s last week. It’s beautiful patterned Kraft paper. Love it! The tree is cut from Heritage and ‘Happy Birthday’ is cut from Lyrical Letters. I’m going to fill in some of the info on the patterned paper like the date, time, and place of my son’s birth.

I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it. Now it’s back to creating some more things with my Cricut!

CKC, The Scrapbook Haus and A Small Project

Well, I really can’t complain. After all, this was my first CKC and since this Creating Keepsakes Convention was so close to home I just had to go. I don’t think 230 miles is too far to go for scrapbooking supplies, do you? There was so much to choose from but I did really well and didn’t spend too much (wink, wink). Hey, it’s all relative! Here is my tiny bundle of treasure:Copy of IMG_4241

See, it’s not that bad! Now the cardstock is another matter. A girl can’t have too much cardstock is what I always say. And I {heart} American Crafts cardstock!

Copy of IMG_4242

While we were in the area, we took a little trip south to New Braunfels, Texas to visit a scrapbook shop that I had heard about. I am so lucky that we got a chance to shop at The Scrapbook Haus. The owner, Sandy, and her staff are so friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of supplies and scrapbooking goodies. And I love their stamping section, too. The staff is knowledgeable about paper crafting and after just a few minutes in the shop they make you feel like you’ve just dropped in to chat with long time friends. The Scrapbook Haus has some great classes coming up soon including a photography class that takes the students on a field trip with their cameras. When you return you can have your photos printed up in any size for your scrapbook pages. How cool is that? We even got to do a make-n-take with Janet from Janet’s Gems in Austin. She does beautiful tea bag folding. Check out her blog at http://www.janetsgems.blogspot.com/. I’d like to send a big thank you to our new friends at The Scrapbook Haus. Copy of IMG_4229 http://scrapbookhaus.blogspot.com/

After my first cruise, I found this Cruise Fund jar at a local department store. When I realized that the money that I had collected in the jar would in NO WAY fund a cruise (LOL) I took some red Cricut vinyl and turned it into…

Scrapbook Fund Jar …my Scrapbook Fund jar! I welded the letters together using my Gypsy using the Gypsy Font.  But, poor me, after this trip I really am poor again! But I couldn’t be happier with my new stash to create with. Time to start saving again for the next big scrapbook shopping excursion!

Until next time, Happy Crafting,Signature

Great News, Products and Announcements!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I sure did! I finally received the all clear from my doctor – I am off of bed rest! Thank goodness – I really was about to climb the walls from boredom, lol! And I didn’t waste any time. I headed straight for JoAnn’s! Ok, I know, but I hadn’t had my shopping fix in quite a while, so please forgive me :-)!  I got a new paper stack from K&Company – Tim Coffey Fall. It has 16 cardstock quality patterned papers, 2 embossed papers, 2 frothed papers, and 4 foiled papers. All are beautiful double sided patterned papers. I also got the matching 4x6 mat pad.DSC_0390

I plan on making a mini book with these. I’ll post photos when it’s finished. And the DCWV Black Currant stack is now a part of my paper stash! (Thanks, Sylvia!)DSC_0389

You have to see this paper to really appreciate the vibrant color and texture of the embossed foil. A clear stamp set by TPC Studio called Falling Leaves also jumped into my basket. I have no idea how that happened!?!? It is a value pack that includes not only the clear stamp sheet but also a sheet with adhesive jewels and a sheet of rub-ons! DSC_0397

I can’t wait to try these on some cards and in the mini that I plan on making. Then I gave a private Circut class to two dear people – one an old friend (not as in age, lol) and one that is now a new friend (hey Michelle). We had a lot of fun and plan on getting together for a crop soon. Thanks guys!

I know that I probably overdid it this weekend but it feels so good to get back to crafting again.

Well I also have a few announcements to share with you this morning!

Spooky Halloween Card – Happy Hauntings & October 31

I am loving these two cartridges! I never really made that many Halloween cards and layouts before but now I can’t seem to stop. Good thing that I still have almost a month and a half to use these. I want to share with you the Spooky card that I made using both of these cartridges. I made this for a challenge on Cricut.com hosted by SassyLady. The challenge was to create something with our Gypsy (I <heart> my Gypsy!) using one old and one new cartridge, and the design had to include a weld and a flip or stretch of any kind. Well, I included all of it: an old cartridge – George & Basic Shapes, TWO new cartridges – Happy Hauntings and October 31, 3 welds, 2 stretches, and 1 flip!
Halloween Card Front
The base of the card is actually two different shapes from George that I welded together to get the final shape that I wanted. I then flipped the welded shape, placed both shapes together and welded again to get the whole card shape.
Screen Shot Halloween card baseThis is an example of the four shapes that I welded together.

Next I stretched the window image from October 31 to fit on top of the card front. I made two windows – one from the grey cardstock and one from black cardstock which I used the Hide Contour feature on the Gypsy to hide all of the cut parts except the four inside cuts. Then I stretched the two parts of the ‘spooky’ tree so that it looked nice behind the window. (Have I told you how much fun I have with my Gypsy?) I popped the window out on the card front with my pop dots and finished it off with some ribbon, ink (gotta ink something), rhinestones, and stickles which I added to the moon -
IMG_4132
and the tree’s eyes and mouth -
IMG_4133
For the inside I welded a bat to the phrase “Happy Haunting” and added a shadow -
Halloween Card InsideIMG_4134
It’s hard to see in the photo but I inked the phrase in Pearlescent Purple Brilliance ink. It gave it a shimmery appearance, just perfect for Halloween!
I would like to thank everyone who left their get well comments this past week. I read each and every one and your comments lifted my spirits and brought sunshine to my day! I really appreciate your visits and your warm words. Thanks again!

Scrapbooking Heals

First of all, I want to thank all of you who sent warm and uplifting comments of wishes for good health to me. I read each and every comment sent and those truly lifted my heart – Thank you!

Second, I so sorry about the Halloween card :-( ! I had a doctors appointment that day and it ended up a lot longer than I had imagined. In the end, I was put on complete bed rest until…??? “What, no Cricut? No paper? No Adhesive? OMG – NO EMBELLISHMENTS??????”  This can not be. Yea, ok, get me well but then I’ll be a healthy basket case, LOL! I need to create! So my wonderful DD set up a make shift ‘craft room’ all around my bed! The Baby Cricut is plugged in and placed on a table next to me (I haven’t told you guys about my Expression, did I? She got sick too! It must be going around but I’ll save that for another day). Oh well, I’m in the process of finishing up the card and getting it photographed and I hope to have it up soon.

But what my DD did for me made me stop and think. She has always been there for me, doing those little things that might go unnoticed to make me happy and cheer me up. I want to let her know that those “little” things have NEVER gone unnoticed with me!

In 2001, I had been diagnosed with cancer. It was very hard to hear since my Dad had passed away with it just one year earlier. But I did put it in perspective – I found out after 9/11 and felt extremely blessed because of that. One day earlier and I would have been a complete mess. But it didn’t seen so bad at that point compared to what I was witnessing on the news. I also felt blessed because I wasn’t on any of those planes – I had just taken a early retirement from AA as a Flight Attendant before this happened. Cancer – that’s nothing. I can bet it! And eventually I did! Thank you, Heavenly Father!

During this uncertain time, my DD who was 8 at the time made me a gift that she created with her own little hands. It made me so happy and I had to save it on a scrapbook page. And this is the result, “Through Tiffany’s Eyes I Can See Beyond Cancer”.

Through Tiffany's Eyes

I added her gift to me which was made with cardstock and floss (she had never done any kind of embroidery before this so I thought it was pretty good considering), the lyrics to the song “Through my daughters eyes” by Martina McBride (a beautiful song and very fitting), and a close up photo of her beautiful eyes.

In My Daughter's Eyes page 1

This is one of those layouts that is very personal to me and I thought that I would never share it. But I’ve received some beautiful comments over the last week and in my heart I knew that I had to share this with my new friends. Thank you for visiting and as always Happy Crafting,

I am giddy with excitement ~ My blog is featured on Two Chics and A Cricut Today!!!

I’m doing my happy dance! (ok, I’m dancing on the inside so as not to break any stitches, lol) but it’s still a very happy dance!
My blog, My Paper Passion, is being featured today (Happy September 1st everyone) on the Two Chics and A Cricut blog!!!! I am trilled that they picked my blog to showcase. I feel so honored, excited, and …. like doing the happy dance again!!! LOL
Check out their wonderful blog at http://twochicsandacricut.blogspot.com/
They have pages about getting started as well as advanced scrapbooking. There are videos and a page on everything Cricut plus much more. Please go visit, look around and follow. Tell them Angie sent you!
I have a Halloween card that I am in the process of putting together and when it’s finished I will post it. It will be today, promise! But until then, I would like to share a Christmas card that I made last year. I love all of the layers and embossing (although the post office didn’t like the bulk too much, lol). I hope you enjoy it.
poinsettia card
And speaking of Christmas (which will be here before we know it!) I also want to share a couple of gifts that I made for my brothers and my mom.
Altered CanvasThis is an altered canvas that I made for both of my brothers. On the left side is a photo of them together many, many years ago. I wanted to place a present day photo of the two of them on the right side but none of us live in the same city and it is so hard to get together these days. But with a little photo imaging software magic, I got the picture that I wanted. Oh what would we do without out computers! Now remember, I am their BABY sister – by very many years! LOL! (I just hope they don’t read this post!)
CalendarThis is a calendar for my dear mother. Since she is getting up in age, I included everyone’s birthday and anniversary’s in it and also put old photos on each months page. That’s my mom on the cover when she was in her 20’s.
I hope you enjoyed looking at some of my older projects and maybe get some ideas for this years gift giving. I’ll get that Halloween card up as soon as I can.
Thanks for looking and as always, Happy Crafting!
