4th of July Cricut Crawl–Red, White, & Blue Challenge!

Welcome to the 4th of July Fantabulous Cricut Crawl - Fantabulous Cricut's version of a Blog Hop!!
In honor of the 4th of July holiday, we're having a Red, White and Blue Crawl.  Each Design Team member has created a fabulous project using Red, White and Blue as the main colors, and of course at least one Cricut cut!
If you came from Amy’s blog at www.craftingwithamy.com, then you're in the right place!  If you've just happened across my blog and would like to see all the fabulous Design Team creations head on over to Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog to start at the beginning.
Make sure to check out each DT member's blog!  There will be Blog Candy along the way at some of our DT members' blogs, and there will be a Grand Prize up for grabs at FCCB for one participant who submits a "Red White and Blue" project at FCCB!
For my project I decided to create a scrapbook layout for my Grandsons first 4th of July! I can’t wait to take photos of him for this page!
My 1st 4th LO-02
I used 3 Cricut carts plus Cricut Craft Room Basics. You just can’t beat CCR for designing projects using multiple carts! The carts used on this layout are Stand & Salute, Independence Day, Plantin Schoolbook, and CCR Basics. I cut the exploding fireworks at the top from Stand & Salute in different sizes using glitter cardstock:
My 1st 4th LO-03My 1st 4th LO-05
Plantin Schoolbook was used to cut out the title “My First Fourth”!
My 1st 4th LO-06
Independence Day was used to cut out the banners under the title above and the firecracker below:
My 1st 4th LO-07
To create the photo mats I resized a simple scalloped rectangle shape from CCR Basics, cut two and layered them with a piece of the patterned paper from the stack ‘Vintage Nation’ by The Paper Studio that I used throughout the layout.
My 1st 4th LO-08
After I added some ribbon to the mats I popped them up with foam tape on three sides and then added two more smaller mats behind them with stars attached so they can be taken out and used for additional photos or journaling. The stars were cut from Plantin Schoolbook.
My 1st 4th LO-09
I attached some red paper twine to the back of the banner and then attached it to both sides of the layout with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I love those tiny staples!
My 1st 4th LO-10My 1st 4th LO-11
Thanks for coming by to see my new 4th of July layout for my Grandson! And for doing so, I am offering some Blog Candy – a 5x7 Anna Griffin embossing folder! Falling for Halloween Blog Hop ~ Day 2

First I’d like to thank Maria for hosting this incredible Blog Hop this weekend and to also thank her for letting me participate in it. I’ve had a wonderful time and I hope that you have too.

Remember, you should have arrived here from Khrista’s blog. If not, you missed the beginning of the hop, so please go to Maria's blog to start so you don't miss any of the projects. I will also be picking one lucky visitor on Monday to receive a box of Blog Candy so be sure to leave comments on both days of the hop and become a follower! Now on to today’s projects!

I guess I wasn’t quite ready to put the vinyl away since I used it here in my first project. You gotta admit, this stuff is so addicting! Here is my Bewitching charger plate:

BewitchingVinylPlate

I bought the charger plate at Michaels with the bling already on it. I got it at a steal since it had some scratches on it – perfect for a Halloween craft project! For my image, I used the Cricut cartridges A Frightful Affair and Chic and Scary by Teresa Collins. I used the Cricut CraftRoom and my Expression to cut the witch from orange vinyl at 8” and the word ‘bewitching’  from iridescent vinyl at 1 1/2”.

BewitchingVinylPlate2 I tried to take a photo from a different angle so you could see how beautiful this vinyl really is – but unfortunately I failed! But you can see that I blinged her up a little by placing rhinestones on her hat and shoes. After all, we all like bling – even the little witch in us, lol!

Next I made a Halloween Treat Milk box. These would be so cute to hand out to those special little ghosts and goblins that knock on your door this Halloween.

A2

I used CTMH’s Artist cartridge and cut it out at 8” using paper from DCWV (Midnight Spell pad). The nice thing about this cart is that there is an extra handbook that comes with it with assembly instructions. After I adhered it together, I inked all of the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Spiced Marmalade. I inked a piece of patterned paper from The Paper Studio and wrapped it around the box, added some rhinestones,

A5

and the potion bottles that were cut from A Frightful Affair at 3”. The “liquid” in the potion bottles and the skull and crossbones were cut from glitter cardstock. I used pop-dots to give the bottles some dimension and added more bling.

A4

The potion bottles cut is actually one piece that I cut into two separate pieces and placed on each side of the box. Just because a cut is a certain way in the handbook doesn’t mean that it has to end up on your project that way!

Before and after

A2

The Happy Halloween is stamped with a Stampin’ Up stamp onto a Tim Holtz Sizzix die cut called Tattered Banners which I distressed with Distress Ink and Glimmer Mist then adhered with pop dots. I also used the mist and some Distressed Stains on some white seam binding to change the color of it. The flowers were punched out and also distressed and misted then adhered with glue dots and I placed a rhinestone in the center. Can you tell that I’m also addicted to distressing stuff? (Sorry, the ribbon looks washed out in the photo but looks much better IRL!)

A7

But the following is still one of my favorite projects that I made last year – my little mummy and his tomb cut from the Happy Hauntings cart! Can you tell what the mummy is?

A8

It’s a mini candy bar wrapped up in some plain white gauze with a couple of googly eyes attached!

Falling for Halloween Blog Hop

fallbloghop

There’s a chill in the air so that means Fall has arrived! Well, ok, it’s not that chilly here in Texas but I am still excited about the Fall season! So welcome to the Falling for Halloween Blog Hop where we will be enjoying all the wonderful crafty inspiration for the Fall and Halloween season.
You should have arrived here from Khrista’s blog. If not, you missed the beginning of the hop, so please go to Maria's blog to start so you don't miss any of the projects.
Here at My Paper Passion I will be giving away some Blog Candy to one lucky visitor! All you will need to do is visit here during the weekend Blog Hop and leave a comment on both days and become a follower. I will then enter your name into the drawing and pick a winner next week.

So here is my first project (yes, there are two projects today! I made more than one and I just couldn’t decide which to post so you are getting to see both!)

I love Halloween! I love to decorate my home with little ghosts and witches. And I also love working and decorating with vinyl. So for this project I mixed these two loves together and came up with this:

Glass BlockVinyl

I used a glass block that I purchased from Hobby Lobby and sprayed it with a Specialty Frosted Glass spray made by Rust-oleum.

Glass Block

To see my original post about how I used the frosted spray, please go HERE. Then I used the new Cricut cartridge A Frightful Affair. This is a fabulous cartridge! I cut out the image from page 45 using the Silhouette feature in black vinyl. Since this image is not square, I used the Cricut CraftRoom to size it to 7.25x7.25 using Real Dial size and cut out the vinyl using a “kiss cut” – that means that you are just cutting the vinyl and not the vinyl backing. My Cricut Expression was set at Pressure - medium and Blade - 2.

VinylGlassBlock

After cutting the vinyl and adhering it to the glass block, I inserted two strands of Halloween lights that I purchased at Michaels – one orange and one purple. This looks great with the room lights off.

Glass Block in Dark

So since I had my vinyl out I just had to make something else. So I cut out this for my living room wall:

ThankfulVinyl

For this project, I used two different Cricut cartridges – the new one by Teresa Collins, December 25th, and Songbird. The original image, from December 25th, for the decorative parts of this wall art has the word ‘December’ in the middle so I used the Hide Contour feature in Cricut CraftRoom to hide it. Then I used Songbird to spell out the word ‘Thankful’. Can you see how versatile these Cricut cartridges can be? You can take a Christmas cartridge and use it for any occasion! So go through your cartridges and see what you can come up with!

Thanks so much for joining in on the hop today. Please be sure to check out all the participant's wonderful projects. I've posted the list below in case you've missed anyone. The next blog you will be visiting belongs to the very talented Nadia at http://www.withglitteringeyes.com/. Enjoy!

Blog Candy Winner(s)?

Thanks to all who commented on last weekends posts about the new Cricut cartridges that were released in June. I have my favorites, too. I absolutely have to have Sophisticated! Teresa Collins has wonderful designs and this cartridge is no exception! plus, the cartridge box matches the colors in my scrap room! what? this is not a reasonable excuse to buy a cart? Traveler is another cart that I need. I still have so many photos to scrap of vacations and even when I was a Flight Attendant. Although I have Pack Your Bags, there are images on Traveler that I like more. Now to the winner of the Blog Candy! (Sorry for being late with this post Embarrassed smile)

CARRIE K.

In one of her comments, Carrie said, “I agree with you, thank goodness that is all for this month!! I NEED Flower Shoppe!! But I am still not caught up from a couple of months ago! I wish PC would give us a 2 or 3 month vacation and let us get caught up!!”

Carrie, now that you mentioned it, I am thinking that I need Flower Shoppe also! I’m in a “flower phase” right now and most projects have some kind of flower on it.

But wait! I’m feeling so good about blogging again, that I picked a ‘runner up’ for some Blog Candy!

KIM

In one of her comments, Kim said, “Provo Craft did an amazing job keeping us all buying! I love the Traveler from Creative Memories! Living in Florida this would be the perfect cartridge:)”
~Kim

Kim, I cannot wait to get mine! (Yep, it’s already been ordered!) I hope it gets here soon!

Carrie and Kim, please email me your addresses so I can get your Blog Candy sent to you. Thanks girls for commenting and following. It makes me feel like I’m blogging for a reason, that someone is out there reading and enjoying this!

Until next time, Happy Crafting,

Last of the Hello Thursday New Cartridges for June

Well, here they are – the last new cartridges for June, at least I hope so. As much as I love to see new cartridges, I need a break or should I say that my wallet needs a break! There were two types of cartridges released last Thursday – 4 “Project” cartridges and 4 “Event” cartridges. So a total of eight!!!

These are the “Event” cartridges:

Robot Party

Space Party

Princess Party

Girl’s Makeup Party

With these cartridges you’ll have everything that you need for an event like a party. There are invitations, party favors, treat boxes, and more! I really think that the Girl’s Makeup Party is really cute and not only for parties but you could use this or any of these images for scrapbook pages and cards. Very versatile!

These next cartridges are the “Project” cartridges:

Sweet Tooth Boxes

Fancy Frames

Flower Shoppe

Word Collage

That’s it for this month and there’s a lot to pick from. My favorite picks are Flower Shoppe (the flowers that you can make are dimensional & I LOVE that) and Word Collage. I also like Fancy Frames because I think it would be fun to do some vinyl projects for home décor and so much more.

So what are your favorites? Remember to leave a comment here to let me know which ones that you have to get (or at least the ones that are going on your wish list). I don’t have to have any of them – I really need them, lol! That’s my story & I’m sticking to it!  But you have to comment on all three posts that I wrote on all of the new cartridges (Saturday’s, Sunday’s, and today’s) to have a chance to win Blog Candy! I will pick a winner on Wednesday!

Have fun looking at all the new goodies Provo Craft. They have really given us some great choices to add to our collections!

Until next time, Happy Crafting,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ornamental Iron 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(This is my absolute FAVORITE! I just love Teresa Collins)

Isn’t it beautiful?

Traveler from Creative Memories

Love this one for all those vacation photos. Also great for the beach, pool, and traveling – did you notice the tags, you could cut these with your Cricut, write in your info, laminate them and presto! you’ve got cool looking luggage tags! Use them as journaling blocks, also.

These are some of the best carts and the images are terrific! All of these are available now here at Cricut.com. Traveler won’t be available until July 1st and you can only get it from a Creative Memories consultant. To find one in your area click here – Find a CM Consultant.

Well, that’s all for today. Check back tomorrow for the last round of Hello Thursday cartridges. Don’t forget to leave a Comment and let me know which of these carts will either make it to your home or at least on your wish list. If you leave a comment on each of these posts and follow my blog your name may be picked as the winner for my Blog Candy!

So until tomorrow, Happy Crafting,
